The Volkswagen Powertrain Warranty includes those components that fall within the realm of the new car limited warranty and extends coverage for the powertrain. This warranty covers any repairs made due to manufacturer defect or workmanship. The powertrain warranty includes components of the engine, transmission, transaxle, and both rear-wheel and front-wheel drive systems. The Volkswagen powertrain warranty begins at the first date of delivery to the new owner (in-service date) or the first date of use.
What is Covered under the Volkswagen Powertrain Warranty?
Under the Volkswagen Powertrain Warranty, the engine, transmission, transaxle, drive systems, and their components are covered if they fail due to a manufacturer defect or workmanship. How Long is the Volkswagen Powertrain Warranty?
The Volkswagen powertrain warranty applies for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, on all models expect for the Touareg. The powertrain coverage for the Touareg is 10 years or 100,000 miles. The warranty is transferable from one Volkswagen owner to the next with very little work needed on the part of the previous owner. Also, there is no limit on the number of owners the vehicle can have in order for the warranty to be valid.
Volkswagen models 1998 thru 2001 the Volkswagen powertrain warranty is vaild 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Models 2000 thru 2001, the powertrain warranty is non-transferable. It applies to the original owner only.
If extended coverage is needed after the Volkswagen powertrain warranty expires, there are extended car warranties that will give you more coverage for your vehicle.
