Pontiac Basic Warranty

You are here

When a new Pontiac vehicle is purchased, it comes with a standard bumper-to-bumper warranty. The Pontiac basic, or bumper-to-bumper, warranty covers repairs to most components to the vehicle if the repair needed is due to a manufacturer defect or workmanship. The Pontiac basic warranty begins the day the vehicle is delivered to the first owner (in-service date) or the first date of use.

What is Covered Under the Pontiac Basic Warranty?

Under the Pontiac basic warranty, most components of the vehicle, except for normal wear and tear items, are covered if the part or parts fail due to a manufacturer defect or workmanship.  Also if the vehicle is inoperable due to a mechanical breakdown that is covered under the basic warranty, General Motors will pay towing cost to tow the vehicle to the nearest GM service center.

The Pontiac basic warranty covers what is listed above. For a complete list of what is not covered refer to the "What is Not Covered" section of the Pontiac warranty booklet.

How Long is the Pontiac Basic Warranty?

The Pontiac basic warranty applies for 3 years or 30,000 miles, whichever comes first. It begins the day the vehicle is delivered to the first owner or the day of first use. The Pontiac basic warranty is transferrable from one Pontiac owner to the next automatically. There is no limit to how many owners the vehicle can have in order for the warranty to be valid.
